Known for its emerald feathers, distinctive black throat, and bright yellow belly, is not just a beautiful bird; it plays a vital role in the Amazon ecosystem. They say the early bird catches the worm, and this species certainly lives up to that saying! The Trogon rufus is most active between 5 AM and 8 AM, with peak activity around 6 AM when the forest begins to awaken. By 10 AM to 12 PM, it often disappears into the dense canopy, remaining elusive. Our Guardian has been instrumental in tracking and recording sightings of this species in Morro do Diabo State Park, Brazil. If you’re hoping to catch a glimpse during your next birdwatching trip, your best chances are on Mondays and Tuesdays, as those days have seen the most sightings! What are the best seasons for spotting this bird? From September to early November is ideal. However, remember that each sighting is more than just luck; it serves as a reminder that the rainforest is alive, delicate, and under threat.
