AIMS – American Institute for Maghrib Studies About AIMS Established in 1984 the American Institute for Maghrib Studies AIMS is a private nonprofit educational organization that works to facilitate research in North Africa and encourage the free exchange of information between American and North African scholars. AIMS administers overseas research centers ORCs in Tunisia and Algeria the Centre dEtudes Maghrebines a Tunis CEMAT and the Centre dEtudes Maghrebines en Algerie CEMA. In Morocco AIMS is represented by its affiliate partner the Tangier American Legation Institute for Moroccan Studies TALIM. Research Centers CEMAT Le Centre dEtudes Maghrebines a Tunis CEMAT is the AIMS overseas research center in Tunisia.
