Earlier this week, a team from Isles joined forces with partners to meet with NJ's Congressional delegation in DC on both sides of the aisle. Our mission? Spotlighting the devastating impact of federal funding cuts to vital public health programs that protect children from lead poisoning and asthma. Isles Deputy Director Laura Fenster Rothschild and Johnson Center Director Ben Haygood, along with our partners from Lead-Free NJ and Green & Healthy Homes Initiative, advocated with 8 Congressional offices including Senator Andy Kim and Representatives Sherrill, McKiver, Smith, Menendez Jr., Pou, Gottheimer, and Conaway. Our coalition successfully secured signatures for House and Senate letters supporting the inclusion of these critical programs in FY26 Appropriations.
