Transition Projects SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY Each year we assist more than 10000 people experiencing homelessness. Last year we placed nearly 900 people into affordable housing and then support them in retaining that housing. 55 Years of Service For over 55 years Transition Projects has delivered lifesaving and lifechanging assistance to some of Portlands most vulnerable residents. Whether by helping a homeless veteran and her family find housing sheltering hundreds of people each night with nowhere else to turn or opening new pathways to employment Transition Projects represents an invaluable part of Portlands social fabric.

Over the past five years, the Grant Park neighborhood has been home to Transition Projects’ Banfield Shelter Motel, a 60-bed shelter for medically vulnerable adults. Banfield Shelter Motel is unique due to the lack of a kitchen —making it particularly difficult for staff to prepare meals. Fortunately, volunteer groups have supported this need by purchasing ingredients, cooking the food offsite, and delivering dinner, hot and ready to serve to the shelter since its opening.
