This morning, the House voted to move forward with their reconciliation bill that includes nearly $800 billion in cuts to Medicaid to fund nearly $4 trillion in tax breaks for billionaires. This bill would harm children, seniors, people with disabilities, and families already struggling to make ends meet. On May 7, we held a 24-hour Medicaid Vigil at the U.S. Capitol to shine a light on what any cuts and harmful changes to Medicaid will do to the nearly 80 million people in this country who rely on it. #BREAKING: This morning, the House passed massive cuts of nearly $800 billion to Medicaid and $500 billion to Medicare that will result in at least 14 million people losing health care coverage. This budget proposal includes the largest cuts to Medicaid in history, threatening the health and well-being of every single one of our communities. We deserve better! Programs like Medicaid and Medicare are a promise we make to each other as a country that we will take care of each other from one generation to the next.
