Summit Bluecoats Inc. – Emergency Support and Preparation for Service Bluecoats of Summit County Emergency Support and Preparation for Service Serving those who served us first A word about Bluecoats Bluecoats Inc. of Summit County is a nonprofit organization comprised of Summit County community leaders who support the morale and wellbeing of the safety forces. Bluecoats provides financial aid to the men and women of the fire police and sheriffs departments who become disabled in the line of duty and to the dependents of those who lose their lives. Because employer provided benefits for the safety forces have improved greatly since the founding of Bluecoats in 1959 the support that Bluecoats provides has been expanded to include aid for catastrophic needs beyond the officers control scholarships for both undergraduate and continuing education and grants for community initiatives that benefit multiple jurisdictions or disciplines.
