We did it! Our summer staff is absolutely incredible - but we have one request... We’re looking for a few returning staff members (who have already completed our training) or responsible adult volunteers to join us for just one week in July. Why? Because we have amazing kids on our waitlist-and with just a bit more supervision, we could welcome them to camp. We hate turning kids away, especially knowing the life-changing impact Charis Hills can have. If you think you can come back and serve as a counselor for a week this July, please let us know! Week One of Staff Training in the books. Full, Fun, and Focused on Christ. Thank God for the staff He has brought us! Every day has been packed with activities that prepare us to serve campers with excellence, joy, and purpose. We’ve had hands-on experiences all over camp: our lifeguards did their grueling swim test, and our team pulled together to hand-drag moss from the lake and clean up the beach so it’s ready for campers. It was messy and exhausting but some of the best bonding moments we’ve had yet. Even in the middle of the busy schedule - learning camp games, safety drills, planning lessons - there’s been so much laughter. The Ninja School costumes brought me back to my childhood and made me remember how close to seeing our campers we are! It's been amazing to see how quickly this staff has clicked. After long days of training, gathering as a team to worship, pray, and be reminded of why we’re here has been deeply grounding. Christ is at the center of everything we do, and it’s been powerful to see His hand guiding us as we prepare to welcome campers. We also took time last night to watch Temple Grandin, which opened some awesome conversations about autism, empathy, and the heart of our mission. Understanding and compassion are just as essential to camp as games and lifeguard skills. And of course, we’ve had some special visitors - adorable piglets from one of our amazing staff members—and this coming Monday, we’re thrilled to welcome a mama sheep and her babies, thanks to the generosity of a local family. Pictures to come! We are so grateful for the community that surrounds this camp with love and support. It’s been a full week—fun, meaningful, and overflowing with God’s goodness.
