In order to proceed with necessary restoration work, the Lakeview Road closure is being extended to ensure public safety as the area remains an active work zone. Please see the closure below for more information. Lakeview Road Closure Extension When: April 15, 2025 – further notice What: As authorized by the License Surrender Order issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in November 2022, the Klamath River Renewal Corporation (KRRC) performed necessary construction work related to the drawdown of the J.C. Boyle, Copco, and Iron Gate reservoirs in January 2024 and removal of the four Lower Klamath Project hydroelectric dams later that year. Due to an active construction zone, a 1.1-mile section of Lakeview Road owned by KRRC was temporarily closed for public safety through April 15, 2025. In order to proceed with necessary restoration work, this closure is being extended to ensure public safety as the area remains an active work zone. We will provide further notice when public use is permissible. Where: Lakeview Road is closed for 1.1 miles uphill from the Iron Gate Fish Hatchery location (just past Lakeview Bridge). Questions: Please direct all questions, comments, and concerns to the Klamath River Renewal corporation at: info@klamathrenewal.org and/or 510-560-5079. You can find all public notices on our website: klamathrenewal.org/local-public-notices/ (fb)

Copco community members may see contractors around the south end of the former reservoir over the coming days flying drones to conduct a final LiDAR survey. The crew will be stationed at various locations along Patricia Ave. as they fly the drone in a grid pattern. LiDAR refers to Light Detection and Ranging, a remote sensing method used to examine the surface of the Earth. This is the final survey in a nearly 2 yearlong project to monitor the stability of the rim around the south end of the Copco Reservoir. The rim was created by the reservoir waters lapping against the hillside, eroding the slope below homes along the lake. LiDAR surveys have been conducted before, during, and after the drawdown process to monitor slope stability and ensure that homes were safe as reservoir waters drained from the slopes. (fb)
