The ALIVE! Furniture Program wrapped up May with a heartwarming day of deliveries — and what a day it was! With helping hands from @Oakland Baptist Church , Friends of Guest House, and our amazing community volunteers, our small but mighty crew delivered furniture to six families. Some had just moved in and were starting from scratch — no beds, no chairs, no tables. That changed in a big way, thanks to all of you. One donation stood out: a lift-and-massage recliner with a beautiful story. It had belonged to a couple — the husband, once a volunteer with our program, used the chair while battling illness, and it allowed his wife to care for him at home. After he passed, she donated it so someone else could feel that same comfort. That special chair now lives with an elderly woman who was all smiles as she relaxed into a massage just minutes after we set it up. Thank you to all of the volunteers who spent this morning providing essential groceries to Alexandrians in need! Nearly 100 volunteers distributed fresh produce, bread, frozen chicken, and shelf stable items at the William Ramsay Recreation Center and the Armstrong Recreation Center. Special thanks to the volunteers who drove the ALIVE! trucks from the warehouse to the distribution sites, to the volunteers who provided language translation services, and to the groups of volunteers organized by Alfred Street Baptist Church, Community Praise Church, Tenants and Workers United - Inquilinos y Trabajadores Unidos, and New Life International United Methodist Church.
