Arab American Institute Foundation
The Arab American Institute Foundation (AAIF) is a non-profit, nonpartisan national leadership organization based in Washington, D.C. It serves as a central resource for government officials, media, political leaders, and community groups on public policy issues affecting Arab Americans and U.S.–Arab relations.
History and Mission
Established in 1985, AAIF was founded to address the lack of representation and inclusion of Arab Americans in the political process, particularly during periods when they faced exclusion due to their advocacy for Palestinian human rights. Today, AAIF plays a crucial role in defending and promoting free speech, including the right to boycott, through public education and advocacy. It focuses on combating restrictions on nonviolent political expression related to the Israel-Palestine conflict and advocates against the misapplication of federal civil rights laws aimed at silencing criticism of Israel on campuses.
Activities and Advocacy
AAIF engages in research and educational efforts to promote a deeper understanding of Arab American issues and to support policies beneficial to the community. It works closely with various stakeholders, including government officials, the media, and other community organizations, to advance these goals.

AAIF receives funding primarily through contributions and grants. Between 2010 and 2014, the organization received annual contributions ranging from $430,000 to $740,000. This amount increased significantly in 2015 to $1.38 million and again in 2018 to $1.03 million. Grants from organizations like the Foundation for Middle East Peace have also supported AAIF's activities.
