Working full time shouldn’t mean falling behind. But in Tarrant County, almost 1 in 3 households still can’t afford the basics. In 2023, 31% of local families were walking a financial tightrope. They earned too much to qualify for assistance but not enough to cover essentials like rent, child care or health care. These are our neighbors. They are considered ALICE: Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. Every day, they face choices no one should have to make: food or medicine, rent or child care. UWTC is taking action. We help connect working families with job training, financial coaching, benefits assistance and emergency support so they can move from just getting by to building long-term stability.
