Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing future leaders, strengthening families, and building community by creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships. Established in 1980, the organization operates as an affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Their vision is for all youth to achieve their full potential.

Additionally, it is the only mentorship program recommended by the CDC to prevent adverse childhood experiences and trauma.
History
Founded by a group of social workers and community volunteers, the organization initially began as an interest group focused on providing positive role models for students in need. In its first year, it matched 35 children with mentors and served over 80 children through group activities. Over the years, the organization has expanded its services across multiple counties, serving thousands of children.
