Meet our guest speaker for commencement 2025, Reeta Roy. As President and CEO of the Mastercard Foundation, Roy has been instrumental in building one of the world’s largest and most impactful philanthropies. With a primary focus on Africa, the Foundation’s programmes have equipped more than 55 million young people with work-enabling skills and tools, and supported more than 18.

Ashesi President, Patrick Awuah, has been named one of three 2025 Sunhak Peace Prize laureates, recognized for his outstanding work in higher education in Africa. The award honours Ashesi’s pioneering multidisciplinary curriculum, which combines teaching values-based leadership with advanced technical skills and Ashesi’s commitment to collaboration and enabling stronger education outcomes for students on the continent. Other recipients were co-founder of Global Citizen Hugh Evans, and Chairperson of the Green Belt Movement Wanjira Maathai.
