Fortitude Community Outreach Fortitude Community Outreach Serving the Homeless of Kankakee County. From Homeless to Housed Fortitude is a grassroots nonprofit in Kankakee County that provides services and street outreach for the homeless. We serve hundreds of homeless individuals each year with the help of multitudes of volunteers. We operate primarily with the support of our local community.

Shelter Update & Plan Moving Forward After meeting with staff and grantors, we’ve developed a plan that allows us to continue providing shelter services while maintaining current grant funding. Here’s what the revised model will look like: • Daytime Walk-Up Services (1–4 PM, Weekdays) We’ll be open for walk-up services at our 1st floor service window, services such as resource access, case management, and completion of applications for housing assistance. • Evening Services (4–8 PM, Daily) We’ll operate as we have in the past—offering showers, laundry, dinner, and case management in our remodeled 1st floor at 970.
