Africa New Day Inc
Introduction
Africa New Day Inc. is a United States-based nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Founded on the principles of equipping, educating, and empowering communities, the organization focuses on ending cycles of violence, poverty, and inequality.
History and Founders
Africa New Day was established by Camille and Esther Ntoto, a couple born in the Congo and raised in Belgium. The Ntotos pursued their higher education in the United States and were later compelled to return to their home country to address its humanitarian crisis. In 2005, they relocated to Goma, Eastern DRC, and commenced their mission work. Initially, the organization launched a radio ministry that broadcast on numerous radio stations, reaching a vast audience across the DRC.
Programs and Impact
Africa New Day's programs are divided into three main areas:
- Education: The organization builds schools and provides scholarships to empower the next generation. This includes the launch of Africa New Day School in 2015, which educates children from pre-K through 10th grade.
- Advocacy: Africa New Day promotes human rights and good governance through awareness campaigns.
- Economic Development: The organization supports local businesses and creates job opportunities. Initiatives include "The HUB," a platform providing tools and resources for starting successful businesses, launched in 2017.
Other programs include "Generation Hope," which trains youth in leadership and entrepreneurship, and "Women of Congo," launched in 2021 to empower women by addressing their spiritual, physical, and emotional wounds while equipping them with vocational skills.
Board of Directors
As of 2024, the board includes Camille Ntoto, Esther Ntoto, and other members from diverse backgrounds, contributing to the organization's governance and strategic direction.
Mission
Africa New Day's mission is to bring about cultural change by empowering each individual in the Congo, equipping them to address their nation's challenges at the root level. This is achieved through sustainable and long-term solutions that foster a new generation of leaders.
