A few weeks ago, our team member Nick removed graffiti from the “History of Highland Park” mural. In 1977, AT&T’s former company, Pacific Bell, commissioned the Barrio Planners to paint a mural on their building in Highland Park. The Barrio Planners selected Judy Baca and a team of artists, including Joe Bravo, Sonya Fe, Arnold Ramirez, Sonny Williams and others. Together they painted the history of Garvanza and Highland Park with the landscape and people of the Arroyo Seco. In 2011, the mural was restored after 33 years of graffiti build up, and the mural continues to be preserved today using MuralShield™.
