The Marathon County Agricultural Society Inc. organized its first county fair in Marathon Park on September 25 and 26, 1868, just 20 years after Wisconsin gained statehood[2]. This inaugural fair featured a parade, floral and vegetable displays, as well as exhibitions of horses, cattle, swine, sheep, and poultry. The event was a significant success, attracting about 2,000 attendees[2].

Over the years, the society has continued to develop Marathon Park, enhancing its facilities to accommodate growing demands. In 1920, the land was officially deeded to Marathon County, leading to the construction of new facilities such as a stock judging pavilion, grandstand, and cattle barns designed by Milwaukee architect Alexander Eschweiler[2].

Today, the Wisconsin Valley Fair, organized by the Marathon County Agricultural Society, offers a diverse range of activities for visitors.
