Celebrate National Turtle Day and consider adopting a Desert Tortoise! 🐢 The Desert Museum's Tortoise Adoption Program (TAP), in partnership with Arizona Game and Fish, helps rehome healthy, unwanted desert tortoises (Gopherus agassizii) in the Tucson area with qualified custodians—while promoting conservation, proper care, and the protection of wild populations. This program exists to address an issue that is exacerbated by illegal actions such as breeding captive tortoises, removing tortoises from the wild, and releasing tortoises that have already been in human care back into the wild.
