Roy Gayle Pony Baseball Softball

Roy Gayle Pony Baseball Softball is a non-profit organization located in Rockford, Illinois, and is affiliated with and sanctioned by PONY Baseball Inc. Founded with a mission to provide organized baseball and softball leagues to youth in the community, it serves children aged 5-15.

History

Established over 60 years ago, Roy Gayle Pony Baseball Softball operates out of the Randerson-Carlson Sports Complex, one of the finest baseball and softball facilities in the region. This complex features eight diamonds, four parking lots, a large concession stand, and several storage sheds.

Organization Structure

The organization is run entirely by volunteers, ensuring that no administrative costs are incurred, allowing all resources to be dedicated to the programs and the youth they serve. It manages eight leagues comprising over 70 teams and around 1,000 youngsters each year.

Programs

The leagues are structured into age-specific categories:

• Shetland League for children aged 6 (6U)
• Pinto League for children aged 8 (8U)
• Mustang League for children aged 10 (10U)
• Bronco League for children aged 12 (12U)
• Pony League for children aged 14 (14U)
• Girls' softball leagues, which include Girls Mustang (ages 8-10), Girls Bronco (ages 11-12), and Girls Pony (ages 13-14)

Mission

The mission of Roy Gayle Pony Baseball Softball is to encourage the personal and physical skill development, social interaction, and sportsmanship among participating youth, with winning being secondary to the attainment of athletic skills and character development. The organization relies on sponsorships and donations to enhance its programs and serve the local youth.

Governance

Roy Gayle Pony Baseball Softball operates under its own Constitution and By-Laws, adhering to the rules of PONY Baseball Inc. and the Official Baseball Rules from Major League Baseball for baseball, and USSSA Softball regulations for softball. Player eligibility requires legal residency within the franchise area and adherence to age requirements. The organization emphasizes fair play, good sportsmanship, and safety across all its programs.
