Dodge County Dairy Testing Association

The Dodge County Dairy Testing Association is a non-profit cooperative located in Juneau, Wisconsin. It was incorporated on August 1, 1941, and initially operated from the Dodge County Courthouse. The association plays a significant role in providing dairy farmers with essential services such as milk testing and herd management reporting.

History

Prior to its establishment, there were eight separate cow testing associations in Dodge County, with a combined membership of around 200 farmers managing fewer than 4,000 cows. Upon its incorporation, about 400 members joined the new association, and seven of the eight original associations merged with it. Over time, the association has grown and relocated, with its lab moving to its current site in 1966.

Services

The Dodge County Dairy Testing Association offers comprehensive milk testing services, including butterfat, protein, somatic cell count (SCC), Johne's, MUN, and Ketosis testing. These services are designed to help dairy farmers optimize their herd management by providing accurate and timely data. The association serves not only Dodge County but also neighboring areas, covering a broad range of dairy operations, from large commercial farms to smaller traditional setups and even dairy goat operations.

Operations

As of the last available reports, the association tests approximately 45,000 milk samples monthly and has over 260 members. It works in cooperation with other regional dairy testing associations to ensure a wide reach and high-quality service delivery. The association continues to update its technology to ensure efficient service, having upgraded its equipment in recent years.

Mission and Impact

The association is committed to providing its members with quality services at competitive prices while maintaining a competitive business model. By offering herd management products and educational resources, it supports local dairy farmers in improving their production efficiency. The organization plays a vital role in the local agricultural economy, contributing to the sustainability and productivity of dairy farming in the region.
