The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America joins the motorsports world in remembering 2012 Drag Racing inductee Ed Pink. Another one of the MSHFA's legendary "Heroes of Horsepower," Pink was born in 1931 and built his last engine just a couple of years ago at the age of 92. He passed away Sunday at 94 after an incredible life as a hot rod engine-building pioneer who turned into a globally admired living legend for nearly a half century. Arriving on the emerging post WWII scene at the ideal age of 16, Pink was a shop boy for early Hot Rodder Lou Baney, but soon his incredible talent for building engines emerged. Fellow Hall of Famers Don "The Snake" Prudhomme (MSHFA Class of 1991) and Don Garlits (MSHFA Class of 1989) were just a few of the stars who later set and broke records with Pink powerplants, but he didn't stop at the Quarter Mile. Pink worked on and in everything from NASCAR to IndyCar motors and Can-Am cars to Porsche flat-sixes. Quiet, gentle natured and by then long known as "The Old Master," Pink said he was "honored" to be inducted to the Hall when the announcement of his selection was made at Long Beach in 2012. The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America announced its 2026 Induction Class Friday at the 50th running of the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. The 38th Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (MSHFA) Induction Celebration presented by Toyota Gazoo Racing, which will formally usher the Class of 2026 into the MSHFA, will be held in the Hall’s home in Daytona Beach, Florida, March 9 – 10, 2026.
