Sweet Katie came to us 3 1/2 years ago when she wound up in a shelter at 12 yrs old when her owner died. We didn’t know how long she’d be with us. She had a hard time getting around these days due to the arthritis in her knees but she’s still hanging in there. She barks at us all loudly and insistently at meal time and expects first service. Seeing so many senior dogs currently sitting in local shelters is heartbreaking. There are currently 10 senior dogs and cats each at Humane Colorado and Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region and 5 at Denver Animal Shelter. We’ve also been receiving daily requests from people to take in senior dogs and cats (and we do not adopt out pet animals and have no more room for resident dogs and cats). Consider welcoming a senior dog or cat into your home. The golden years are the best years! Chandler loves the spring with all the fresh tall grass! Chandler and his brother Joey came to us when we rescued them from a fate of being meat rabbits. They were advertised on Facebook by a lady who loved breeding baby animals she thought were “cute” and then selling them as meat. Chandler is the happiest, silliest boy and we can’t imagine him not being a part of the Sweet Home Sanctuary where he gets to be a bunny and enjoy a long and happy life. #bunnylife #bunnylove #friendsnotfood (fb)
