We salute the lifetime of service of Army veteran and twenty-three term congressman Charles Rangel. A champion of the work of Black Veterans Project since its founding, his legacy of leadership will guide our path in the years ahead. First elected to Congress in 1970, he co-founded the Congressional Black Caucus and became the first Black member and later chairman of the influential House Ways and Means Committee. He also helped found CBC’s Black Veterans Brain Trust, laying the foundation for our work today. Rest in power, sir. (fb)
