Alexander McRae was a Fayetteville native who remained a United States Army officer, even though his brothers joined the Confederacy. After being injured in battle, McRae continued to support his fellow troops. Today, his legacy lives on at the U.S. Army Airborne and Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
