“I had strep throat when I was 7 years old and it settled in my kidneys. I started dialysis when I was 28 and received my kidney transplant when I was 29. I’ve had it for 35 years now and I’m so thankful for my donor family. I’ve been able to compete in the US Transplant Games and the World Transplant Games, too. My husband was a heart transplant recipient and we both medaled at the Games. He had his heart and a second chance at life and love for 11 years.
