Energy Facility Contractors Group
The Energy Facility Contractors Group (EFCOG) is a nonprofit organization designated as a 501(c)(6) business league, which focuses on the improvement of business conditions for its members[3]. Formed in 1991 by contractors of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) facilities, EFCOG aims to enhance operational excellence and cost-effectiveness by facilitating the exchange of successful programs, practices, and lessons learned among its members[1].
Objectives
EFCOG has several primary objectives:
- Promotion and Exchange of Information: To promote, coordinate, and facilitate the active exchange of successful programs, practices, procedures, lessons learned, and other pertinent information of common interest among DOE contractors to enhance operational excellence and cost effectiveness[1].
- Addressing Common Issues: Identifying and addressing issues of common concern among its members through active exchanges of management and technical information[1].
- Collaboration with Other Organizations: Utilizing interfaces with organizations such as the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), and others to promote cooperation and minimize duplication of efforts[1].
- Interacting with DOE: Interacting with the Department of Energy in ways that produce value-added changes for both DOE and the contractor community[1].
Working Groups and Activities
EFCOG establishes working groups and task teams focused on various subject areas such as cybersecurity, project delivery, operations, waste management, safety, safeguards & security, supply chain management, efficiency & environment, and training. These groups enable participants to share experiences and undertake focused assignments related to identified topics[2]. EFCOG also hosts webinars, workshops, and annual meetings on topics such as digital transformation and specialized safety communities like electrical safety and worker safety & health[2].
Collaboration and Events
EFCOG collaborates with other organizations to co-host significant events, such as the National Cleanup Workshop, which is organized in cooperation with the Energy Communities Alliance (ECA) and the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management[2]. The group also supports forums aimed at advancing nuclear projects through collaboration with various stakeholders[2].
