After a successful soft opening last fall, and our recent training of a fantastic roster of volunteer docents to staff this new downtown nature center, we are excited to invite everyone to our ribbon cutting and official opening on June 13th at noon of our Forest Discovery Center! We will then be open Fridays & Saturdays from Noon to 4pm. (fb)

In 2019, a group of scientists and community members, in partnership with Transition Fidalgo and the City of Anacortes, came together to form the ACFL Forest Monitoring Program. Initially formed to investigate widespread concern of western redcedar mortality on Fidalgo Island, data collected by this program has contributed key insights about many parts of our forest ecosystem today. Join WSU Research Associate Robbie Andrus as we explore the woods around Heart Lake and learn how community scientists continue to help us understand the ecosystems of the ACFL! RSVP: https://www.friendsoftheacfl.org/upcomingactivities/community-hike-the-forest-monitoring-program Hike will be meeting at Ray Auld Drive. (fb)
