Founded in 1918, the church was canonically organized on Sept. 1921, in the Church of the Good Sheph Founded within the auspices of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) in 1918, the Holy African Orthodox Church (HAOC) was canonically organized and independently chartered in 1921. It is the mission of the HAOC to serve the spiritual needs of all persons of African descent, both in North America, the Motherland Africa, and abroad, from the foundation of our ancient cultural and spiritual traditions without compromise.
