CRIS Ohio Community Refugee Immigration Services CELEBRATING 30 YEARS of WELCOME 19952025 Community Refugee Immigration Services No matter where you are from we are glad youre our neighbor. In 1995 Community Refugee Immigration Services CRIS was established to fill a critical gap in refugee services. Starting in a humble garage next to the Lao Temple on Columbus east side CRIS has grown into a beacon of hope for tens of thousands of refugees and immigrants. Today as the notion of welcome faces historic challenges CRIS remains resolute.

World Refugee Day is a global observance observed annually in June. Established by the United Nations, it honors the strength, resilience, and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home countries due to war, violence, or persecution. In recognition of World Refugee Day and CRIS’ 30th Anniversary, we’ll be sharing stories throughout the month—stories from individuals who have been part of the CRIS community over the past three decades.
