The BAC 3 NY held it's first Local Union Apprentice Contest last Friday at the Rochester Training Center. Congratulations to the following apprentices who placed and qualified to now compete in the NE Regional. We wish you the best of luck representing "The Best Hands in the Business". Concrete- 1st Place - Stephan Edwards (So.T) Bricklayers- 1st Place - Jimi Watkins (Buffalo) 2nd Place - Jacob Millard (So. T) 3rd Place - Eric Measer (Rochester) 4th Place - Nate Kent (Rochester) Tile Setters- 1st Place - Cody Smith (Buffalo) 2nd Place - Andrii Melnyk (Rochester) PCC- 1st Place - Kevon Parson (Buffalo) 2nd Place - Eli Prosser (Rochester) 3rd Place - Alexander Howland (Rochester) Please congratulate these apprentices and thanks to all who competed. This event was a huge success with over 100 people in attendance including apprentices, instructors, family members, Union members, several contractors, the Iroquois Job Corp students, staff from the NYSDOL, Mayor of Rochester Malik Evans and Monroe County Executive Adam Bello. 15 Apprentices from the Buffalo, Rochester, and Southern Tier Chapters competed in several of our Trades to qualify to compete at the BAC Northeast Regional Competition in Atlantic City on May 22. Those who place in that contest will then move on to compete at the IUBAC National Apptentice Contest on September 30, in Detroit, MI. Special thanks to all the instructors who have been training our future journeyworkers and those who helped judge the contest. We are already planning for next year's Local Contest!! (fb)
