🚀 Sharing Evidence: Exciting new research: https://tinyurl.com/ybkncfvw 🚀 The RCI team: Ke (Kelly) Wang, Ph.D., Toni Miles Lezlie Poole, and Jennifer Olsen investigated how a 6-month, evidence-based caregiver support program can reduce work-family conflict and improve the quality of life for family caregivers of individuals with dementia. Why does this matter? This work builds on important evidence from RCI’s analyses of its work over the years where we learned that dementia knowledge varies significantly, with older, male, and urban caregivers often having less access to information and support. This reinforced the critical need for tailored interventions that address these disparities and ensure all caregivers have the knowledge and resources they need to provide quality care. These most recent findings show significant reductions in distress, depressive symptoms, subjective burden, and financial stress, along with increased self-efficacy among participants. Notably, the intervention yielded a meaningful decrease in family-to-work conflict—a critical step toward supporting caregivers in balancing their dual roles. While work-to-family conflict showed improvements, it did not reach statistical significance, highlighting the need for further work in this area. As part of our ongoing efforts to bring together experts and implementers, we hosted an advisory group with Duke in May. This was a great opportunity to connect and discuss how tailored caregiver interventions can enhance mental health and societal productivity, especially during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, on Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women of our military who sacrificed everything to protect our freedom. Their courage and selflessness remind us of what it truly means to serve. While this day is a time for remembrance, it can also bring up complex emotions for many. We also want to recognize and thank the millions of family caregivers who support and care for those in the military. Their dedication is vital, often balancing the rewarding aspects of caregiving with the stress and challenges it can bring. Being a family caregiver is a profound act of service, but it can sometimes feel overwhelming or isolating. If you or someone you know is feeling overwhelmed or needs support, remember that help is always available. You don’t have to face difficult feelings alone—reach out by texting TOUGH to 741741 for free, compassionate, 24/7 crisis counseling. Support is just a message away, and you are not alone in this journey. Let’s take a moment to honor all who serve and all who support them — together, we are stronger. #MemorialDay #ThoseWhoServe #SupportAndRemember (fb)

The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers reimagines how to support family caregivers so they can do more than just try to keep up they can thrive. 1 Rand 2024 The need for care in the United States is outpacing what we can manage. For many of us being a family caregiver is a meaningful experience and providing care has inherent difficulties because our systems are not set up to support family caregivers yet. The urgent needs facing family caregivers need systems and resources built and informed by the expertise of caregivers.
