Johnson and Sylvia Rivera — two transgender women of color who stood at the front lines of the Stonewall Riots and spent their lives fighting for those too often forgotten, especially trans women, sex workers, unhoused youth, and LGBTQ+ people of color. Their resistance was radical, intersectional, and deeply feminist — rooted in the belief that true liberation means freedom and dignity for all women and girls, across all identities and experiences.
