Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary

Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing and advocating for the rights of farmed animals. It is one of the most recognized and well-respected animal sanctuaries worldwide.

History

The sanctuary was founded in May 2004 by Jenny Brown and Doug Abel outside of Woodstock, New York. In 2014, the organization purchased a 150-acre property in High Falls, New York, allowing for the expansion of their rescue and educational programs. The name was officially changed from Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary to Woodstock Farm Sanctuary during this transition[1][2].

Mission and Vision

The organization's mission is to end animal agriculture by rescuing farmed animals, providing them lifelong care, and educating the public about the harms associated with animal farming. Woodstock Farm Sanctuary envisions a world rooted in respect and justice for all living beings, advocating for veganism and reducing suffering through storytelling and animal care[1][3].

Activities and Impact

Over its twenty years of operation, Woodstock Farm Sanctuary has rescued thousands of animals from across the United States, including cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, goats, and geese. The sanctuary offers public tours and educational programs, promoting awareness about the conditions faced by farmed animals and the environmental impacts of industrial agriculture[2].

The sanctuary operates through financial support from donations and has a large volunteer program that attracts participants from around the world. It also conducts conservation and restoration work on its property[2].

Features

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary features an award-winning on-site inn, The Gray Barn, which provides accommodations for visitors. The sanctuary's events and educational initiatives reach hundreds of millions through targeted campaigns and advocacy efforts[1][2].

Current Status

Today, Woodstock Farm Sanctuary provides daily care and medical support to nearly 400 rescued animals, making it a leading center for animal advocacy and education in the world[1].

Woodstock farm sanctuary We just rescued a pregnant goat who was intentionally hit by a car. Chick Days are back once again and with that come all the issues we raise the alarm about every year. Your voice can help exploited birds this year. New sheep just arrived at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary after months out in the cold winter weather.
