Information Alert Urgent Update: First I would like to thank everyone who stepped up and showed up at the Mamakating Town Board Meeting on May 20th it made a difference. There were approximately 20 people who spoke at the meeting sharing their concerns, asking the board to slow down, and it worked ! The board heard you all and granted a 2 week continuation on public comments. Thank you again to everyone who helped, and to the Town Board who were willing to listen. As a result the Bashakill Area Association in conjunction with the Lakes Alliance is holding a Town Hall type meeting at the Yankee Lake Clubhouse this Friday May 30th at 6:00 pm. We would like to hear everyones opinions and concerns regarding the purposed zoning changes to the overlay zones off exit 112-113 as well as 115. Please share the meeting information with anyone you feel would be interested in attending, we need numbers to continue being heard ! Address is : 192 Yankee Lake Road Wurtsboro, NY There will be someone to direct parking Some of our concerns to think about include: -This completely goes against the comprehensive Master Plan for this area that took 5 years to develop and involved much input from experts on environmental impact ? -Why such a drastic decrease from 25 acres to 3 acre as required ? -there have been no new environmental impact studies done, even though this area has been proven in the past to be ecologically sensitive and could negatively impact the Wurtsboro Vally aquifer and the Bashakill directly, why ? -Why are we rushing to change a plan that took years to develop in a matter of weeks ? -What exactly are the projects being proposed ? -By dividing a 25 acre lot into 8 3 acre lots this could mean 8x the amount of trees cut and 8x the amount of wells drilled, these are precious resources that once gone cannot be brought back. Again these are just some of concerns, and would love to hear yours if you are able to attend, and bring a friend ! We will also be sending a blast out next week as a reminder about the next Town Board meeting on June 3rd. We need as many people as possible to attend and speak out. Please consider publicly speaking to the board and let them know your concerns as citizens,or just to stand up and agree or disagree with whats being said, as we have seen numbers truly matter !
