Camp Discovery is almost here! Each week is filling up fast, so we thought we'd highlight three weeks that still have some spots available! Under the Surface 🐌| Hop along and join our thrilling dirt-digging escapade to discover the bustling world beneath our toes! From wiggly earthworms to tunneling rabbits, gear up to witness how critters of all shapes and sizes transform the soil into their own cozy paradise. Water Adventures II 💧 | Cure your summer fun drought with a week of aquatic adventures! Let’s get hands-on with aquatic life through creek and pond exploration. We’ll take trips on the Grand River to explore its ecosystem and importance and learn about how we can take care of this essential resource and the Great Lakes. Things with Wings 🐦 | Whether they are high in the sky or down on the ground, there are so many winged friends to meet out at Woldumar. Grab your binoculars and butterfly nets and hit the trails. Let’s see how many of our fine feathered and little critter residents we can find. Here's the answer for our hardy little ambersnails on this weeks #TriviaThursday! Indeed, these snails can last 5-10 days of being dried out, and still bounce back! When dry conditions are dire, they will estivate, or go dormant for a period of time (similar to hibernation). Then, when conditions improve, they'll return to their regular activities of munching on moss, fungi, algae, and diatoms. These snails are a food source for many native species, including reptiles, birds, amphibians, and even certain beetle larvae. Thanks for tuning in! See you next week for more trivia! #naturelovers #trivia #Michigan #nativespecies #naturetrivia #NaturallyCurious #Nature #mollusk #snail🐌 #snails #snail (fb)
