Beats Rhymes And Life Celebrating 20 YEARS of Empowering Youth through Hip Hop Therapy In 2004 BRL pioneered an innovative Hip Hop Therapy model that used the process of creating rap music to engage atpromise youth in mental health services. We Exist To reduce stigma and increase access for youth of color and other marginalized youth seeking therapeutic services. There is a general distrust of systems of care because of the lack of diversity and the lack of culturallycongruent strengthbased and youthcentered service models. Beats Rhymes and Life BRL is a communitybased organization that initially began in response to a critical need for therapeutic programming to specifically address the mental health needs within Black and Brown communities.
