On the sidelines of the World Health Assembly, eight women leaders from government, philanthropy, industry, and civil society came together to chart practical pathways for accelerating women’s health innovation. At the heart of the discussion was a clear recognition: we have the science. What is missing is the alignment of policy, financing, and delivery systems to ensure women, particularly those in low-resource settings, can benefit from it. There was a strong call for more transparency, more sex-disaggregated data, and smarter investment strategies, including regulatory and financial incentives to de-risk innovation. The panelists highlighted cervical cancer as a litmus test: a condition where tools exist but systems have yet to deliver for the women who need them most. The experts in the room agreed: this is the moment to embed women’s health innovation into national and global strategies, not as a siloed priority but as a pillar of resilient and equitable health systems. 📱 Meet Kader Kita: a mobile app created with and for Indonesia’s community health workers, or kaders. Led by PATH with funding from the Gates Foundation, Kader Kita links community-level data to public-sector primary health care centers, strengthening the continuum of care. The app was co-created with kaders themselves and built in collaboration with Indonesian design partner Somia Customer Experience and developer Rolling Glory. The #HumanCenteredDesign approach helped ensure the final product was user-friendly, suitable for use in various local geographies, and relevant to the Indonesian health system. 🚨 One key innovation: a decision-support feature that alerts kaders in real time if a client needs a higher level of care. By ensuring that early signs of complications aren’t missed during community screenings, the app enables kaders to intervene earlier with health education, referrals, and active case management. The Kader Kita project is a reminder that digital innovation, when it’s grounded in local context and empathy, can reshape the way health care is delivered.
