Home | City Club New York

The City Club of New York, founded in 1892, is one of the oldest civic organizations in the City. From the beginning, its mission has been to promote sound urban policy and to protect New York City's essential character. That has never been easy. The natural impulse of a big city is to grow, sacrificing any neighborhood or structure that stands in the way without considering its contribution to diversity, vitality, livability, or history. The City Club's goal has never been to halt all progress; rather, it has been to push for a future that preserves what is great in the City's past and present. We strive to reform legislative and regulatory procedures to ensure that the citizens of New York City play a meaningful role in the land use process.
