Overview

The New Mexico Environmental Law Center (NMELC) is a nonprofit, public interest law firm dedicated to protecting New Mexico's communities, air, land, and water in pursuit of environmental justice. Founded in 1987, the organization provides free and low-cost legal services to individuals, neighborhood associations, environmental organizations, tribes, and pueblos throughout New Mexico.

Mission

NMELC's mission is to ensure that all New Mexicans have access to clean air, land, and water. The organization focuses on legal and policy advocacy, public education, and administrative negotiations to address environmental issues.
