Metabolomics Association of North America

The Metabolomics Association of North America (MANA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the field of metabolomics in North America. Established in 2018, MANA brings together scientists and professionals from Canada, Mexico, and the United States to foster cooperation and coordination in metabolomics research.

Mission

The primary mission of MANA is to promote the growth and development of metabolomics on the continent, facilitating interactions among researchers and professionals in related fields, including academia and industry. It provides platforms for presenting research achievements, organizing workshops, and encouraging the publication of meritorious research. MANA aims to enhance the understanding of metabolism across various organisms, such as microbes, plants, animals, and humans.

Structure and Membership

MANA is structured to include various interest groups that contribute uniquely to the organization. These groups include Early Career Members, Womxn in Metabolomics, Software and Data Exchange, Metabolomics in Precision Medicine, Microbiome, and NMR and Metabolomics Cores Interest Group. Membership is available with varying rates for regular and early career members.

Activities and Events

MANA organizes annual conferences that serve as key events for networking and knowledge sharing among its members. These conferences feature scientific presentations, workshops, and interactive forums covering a wide range of topics in metabolomics. The association also supports local events by providing financial, marketing, and other forms of assistance.

Affiliate Relationships

In May 2018, MANA became an International Affiliate of the Metabolomics Society, aligning its goals with those of the broader global metabolomics community. This affiliation enhances the collaboration between MANA and other metabolomics organizations worldwide to advance research and professional development in the field.

Recent Conferences

Recent notable conferences include the 6th Annual MANA Conference, held in Tampa, Florida, in October 2024, and the upcoming 7th Annual MANA Conference scheduled for September 2025 in Banff, Alberta, Canada. These events highlight MANA's commitment to facilitating research discussions and networking opportunities across North America.

Support Initiatives

MANA offers support through a job board, hosting virtual job fairs and posting job opportunities for its members and corporate partners. This service helps connect professionals in the metabolomics field with relevant employment opportunities.
