But it hasn't stopped COFI and POWER-PAC IL parents from speaking up about critical legislation and programs for their families! 🔷Last week, leaders joined Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and the Illinois Revenue Alliance in Springfield to call on legislators to support revenue solutions! The Trump administration and Republicans in Congress have proposed cutting funding for programs that families need to thrive - including Medicaid and SNAP. Families need a state budget that invests in their children! 🔷Yesterday, leaders joined Healthy Illinois and advocates to highlight the importance of healthcare for immigrants and explain to lawmakers why cutting the HBIA (Health Benefits for Immigrant Adults) program will hurt communities. Parent Leader Liliana O. shared her personal testimony and how HBIS (Health Benefits for Immigrant Seniors) helped her relative get the care she needed after a stroke.
