Who’s celebrating the start of farmers market season this weekend? 👏🌱👏 (fb)

When local farms and community care come together, everyone eats—and everyone wins. Burrito Brigade is a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating hunger in Oregon by providing free, nutritious, meals to those in need. Founded in 2014 in Eugene, the organization has expanded its reach to Portland, engaging communities through various initiatives aimed at addressing food insecurity. Thanks to the Healthy Food For All program, funded by Trillium Community Health Plan, our partnership with Burrito Brigade made a big impact in 2024: 
🥕 $21,500 in funding supported: 
• Locally grown ingredients for 15,000 fresh burritos shared with unhoused neighbors
• $25 vouchers for 200 food-insecure households to shop at Fill Your Pantry
• 30 weeks of CSA shares for 75 households, introducing fresh, regional food into their kitchens
🍅 At Fill Your Pantry alone, $3,875 in free food was distributed directly to shoppers
🌽 The relationships built with farmers through this work have been lasting and meaningful—for both sides of the table Looking ahead to 2025, we’re thrilled to keep the momentum growing by funding: 
🌱 CSA Shares: Continue offering at least 75 households two weeks of fresh, local produce (5 per week over 30 weeks)
🌶 Fill Your Pantry Vouchers: Another 200 households will receive $25 to spend directly with local growers
🥕 Locally grown ingredients will continue to nourish 15,000 burritos, connecting the harvest to those most in need Together, we’re closing the hunger gap and strengthening our local food web.
