
ACLAMO
Overview
ACLAMO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community service organization dedicated to empowering Latinos and other community members in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, to achieve their full potential. Founded in 1977, ACLAMO stands as a pivotal connector within the county's human services network, serving low-income Latinos and other disadvantaged residents by providing improved access to resources in education, health, employment, housing, and social services.
Mission and Vision
ACLAMO's mission focuses on delivering educational programs, social services, and health and wellness initiatives to empower individuals and families. The vision is for every family, child, and adult to reach independence and happiness. To achieve this, ACLAMO collaborates with local partners and mainstream providers to address gaps in access to vital resources within the community.
Services
Education Department
- Family Literacy: Supports kindergarten readiness and strengthens families through pre-school education for English language learners (ELLs) and adult basic education and parenting classes.
- STEAM After-School and Summer Bridge Programs: Aims to enhance academic achievement and life skills among K-12 students.
- Teen Club and ADELANTE - College Prep: Programs designed to boost self-confidence and prepare students for the workforce and higher education.
Social Services Department
- Intake/Referrals and Case Management: Assists individuals and families with housing, employment, food, utilities, and mental health services connection.
- Senior Services: Offers case management, home visits, food baskets, and healthcare navigation for Latino elders.
- Immigration Services: Provides consultations, case management, and educational workshops to help resolve immigration issues.
Health and Wellness Department
- Benefits Acquisition: Helps individuals and families obtain insurance and access health services.
- Health Literacy Education: Offers culturally relevant classes on preventive health and chronic disease management, along with health screenings.
- Community Health Workers: Bridges language gaps through interventions, case management, and support.
Impact and Recognition
ACLAMO is recognized as the only full-service organization for Spanish speakers in Montgomery County. In 1983, it became the first Latino organization to become a full member of the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania. Over the years, ACLAMO has successfully implemented grants from various private donors, including foundations and corporate entities.
Financial and Donations
As a tax-exempt organization, ACLAMO accepts tax-deductible charitable contributions. Donations support a wide range of programs benefiting individuals, children, and families in the community. ACLAMO also accepts gifts of appreciated securities and offers opportunities for regular support through programs like Amigos de ACLAMO.
