"I am from Hiva Oa in the Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia and I moved to BYU-Hawaii in 1996 to pursue higher education. As the oldest of eight children, my family couldn't afford college, but BYU-Hawaii provided a sponsorship, making my education possible. "While working part-time at the Polynesian Cultural Center, I met my sweetheart, David Tovey, and got married in April 2001. I graduated in June 2001 with a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) degree and have been teaching English and French since then. In April 2024, I became the Senior Manager of Seasider Sports & Activities at BYU-Hawaii. "Despite my busy schedule, I decided to pursue a master's degree at WGU in June 2024 (BS Management and Leadership), balancing work, teaching, and online courses, finding the experience challenging yet rewarding. I am forever thankful to Ke Akua (the Lord), my husband, family, friends, the SSAC Staff, and WGU for their unwavering help and support. Mahalo!"
