Game on in Tacoma! We're proud to partner with Seattle Kraken, NHL, Parks Tacoma, and the One Roof Foundation to unveil a beautiful new multisport court at Verlo Playfield! This community project transformed an existing space with fresh concrete, new basketball hoops, and built-in hockey goals that will be open to the public year-round. Seattle Kraken legends joined us for a ceremonial puck drop to celebrate the opening. The excitement continued as each child at the event received new Brooks Running shoes plus a Kraken street hockey stick and ball to enjoy the new court. Creating spaces where our community can stay active and healthy is a win for everyone. We can't wait to see Tacoma families enjoying this revitalized space for years to come! (fb)

In 2021, Chika Franck was 36 years old. Cancer wasn’t on her radar. She was healthy, active, a non-smoker, and the mother of two young children, ages 1 and 3 years old. So, when a stomach ache turned out to be something much more insidious, she was blindsided. The unusual symptoms only lasted a few weeks, but she knew she needed to seek help immediately.
