Every Brain Needs (Love) Music: A Romantic Evening of Love Songs and Neuroscience Valentine's Day plans: ☑️🌹 Forget crowded restaurants, dying flowers, and tired chocolates. Science and live music instead! Tickets: www.portlandchamberorchestra.org Humans have been creating music about falling in and out of love from time immemorial. This multi-media Valentine’s Day concert and lecture includes performances by Grammy award-winning Hopi-Nez Perce Native American flutist James Edmund Greeley; internationally acclaimed gospel, jazz, and blues singer Marilyn Keller; singer, composer, pianist, and recording artist Naomi LaViolette; and the Portland Chamber Orchestra along with neuroscientist, public speaker, author and lifelong musician Dr. Larry Sherman. The show mixes modern and ancient romantic music with visuals and discussions about the neuroscience of how our brains engage with music – listening, learning, performing, and composing – and the unique ways that love songs impact brain function and human bonding. Although we may be the oldest Chamber Orchestra in the United States we pride ourselves on our flexibility. We regret to inform you that we are postponing our Kaleidoscope concert until next season. However we are excited to introduce a fresh alternative for the spring. Stay tuned for more updates.
