You know him. You love him. Born and raised in Big Timber, ABWF Executive Director Joe Josephson is a longtime fixture of Southwest Montana's conservation and climbing scenes. He joined ABWF in 2023 after many years of leadership in both the outdoor industry and the conservation field, with a storied career that's included early years with the US Forest Service, research on a high-elevation glacier in Canada, founding the non-profit organization Friends of Hyalite, and leadership on two successful campaigns to stop destructive gold mines on the border of Yellowstone. (And somehow in there he found the time to write and publish more than two dozen outdoor books, guides, and maps. Whew!) Joe lives in Bozeman with his wonderful partner Paola and their two exceptionally cute cats, Ranger and Flower.
