Developed as part of The Clemente’s Historias initiative and in conjunction with the reopening of The Met’s galleries for the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas, this two-part, drop-in workshop invites us to reflect on NYC as a mosaic of diasporic journeys. Drop-in Projects (1–4 PM): 🔹 RECASTING THE PAST — Collaborate with Vega in crafting a mosaic that reinterprets a selected artwork from The Met’s collection using contemporary materials. 🔹 FRAMING WHAT CARRIES US — Create personal emblems of memory, heritage, and symbolism, to be woven into a large-scale communal artwork conceived by Vega.
