SOUTH PLAINFIELD SOCCER ASSOCIATION

South Plainfield Soccer Association

The South Plainfield Soccer Association (SPSA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing young athletes in South Plainfield, New Jersey, with opportunities to develop their soccer skills and engage in competitive play.

Purpose and Objective

The primary purpose of the SPSA is to facilitate competitive soccer activities for local youngsters, aligning with its established bylaws. The association aims to offer a structured environment for young players to refine their skills and compete against teams from neighboring soccer associations.

Membership and Governance

Membership in the SPSA is open to individuals who meet specific criteria, including attending regular monthly meetings and fulfilling annual dues requirements. Active members include parents, coaches, players, and team representatives. Voting privileges are granted to members aged 18 and over who are in good standing.

Operations

The SPSA operates under a board of directors that oversees key decisions, including tryout processes and team selections. Tryouts are conducted annually in the spring to form teams for the upcoming year. The association emphasizes equal playing time for all players, requiring them to participate in at least a quarter of each game.

Team Structure

Teams are formed based on player evaluations and are typically structured into different levels (e.g., "A," "B," and "C" teams), depending on available players and coaching resources. Small-sided teams are exempt from this structure, and any alternative formations require board approval.

Season Commitment

Players committing to a team are expected to maintain their participation throughout the year, which runs from September to July. Failure to adhere to this commitment may impact future eligibility within the program.

Governance and Amendments

Changes to the bylaws can be made through a two-thirds majority vote by eligible members at any association meeting, provided proposals are submitted in writing at least 15 days prior to the meeting.
