“We duplicated an old multifocal scleral lens for this patient with radial keratotomy incisions but even with similar parameters the patient wasn’t happy with vision!Sometimes when a lens is made, even if it’s identical, some of the parameters are mistakenly set back to default.For this patient their optic zone was an 8.13mm in the new lens and 8.57 in the old lens. A huge difference that you have to specify with orders!Got them fixed up with 20/20 vision distance and near with a lens that keeps their eye healthy.”Repost @eyesplain (fb)

“This is a @bostonsight scleral lens on a pediatric eye with chronic limbal stem cell deficiency and lipid keratopathy. 😮 This patient had an unfortunate chemical burn during a dermatologic procedure as a toddler. Through co-management with his corneal specialist, we were able to fit him into a scleral lens that is filled with allogeneic serum tears (made with blood donated from his mother) and topical bevacizumab. This cocktail allows for the regression of the leaky vessels that are dumping lipid deposits into the corneal stroma.
